Electricity usage.

In 2019 and 2020 we used, on average,  19kWh of electricity per day which gives a usage of  roughly 7000kWh per year. Electricity and a small wood burner are the only energy sources in the Riseley Eco Cottage. There is no gas.

In 2020 we generated 2,820kWh from our 3.3kW pv array. So we cover around 40% of our electricity usage.

Reassuringly, the predicted output from our 3.3kW pv array was 2376kWh per year.

UK Power state that an average 3 bedroom house uses 12,000kWh of gas and 3,000kWh of electricity per year giving a total of 15,000kWh. The Riseley Eco Cottage is using only 50% of the average.

The sedum green roof over the workshop and garage has some lovely flowers on it

Passive House

For the last month or so the Riseley Eco Cottage has been running as a Passive House. We have switched off the air source heat pump which heats the underfloor heating. The console shows that at 10.19pm on the 18th  April, the outside temperature was 2 degrees C  but the indoor temperature is 22 degrees C
